Stella Nina
Biography
Stella was a gorgeous, spicy sweet double dapple mini doxie who came to me as a senior at already 9 years old. I'd adopted her friend Joe Boy from that same place about 4 months earlier so once I was accustomed to having a small dog around, I thought he needs a friend his age and size so I told them I'd take Stella. She was the dog who taught me you can be tiny but mighty and fiercely fabulous all at the same time. I never had tiny dogs before. I never had senior dogs before. There was a huge learning curve. My suggestion is seniors are absolute love bugs so they a great to adopt, just be sure to do your research so you have working awareness of the special health issues that may arise as their senior years progress. Stella was only with me for about 3 years as she suddenly went mostly blind, mostly deaf and experienced dementia so she was miserable and mostly cried all of the time once those things converged. It was hard to let her go, but it was the only loving thing to do. Even though the last several months were so hard and letting go of her was so soon after she joined the family was hard, I still cherish every single good day we had and will always treasure Stella. She taught me to stand up and speak out for myself in situations where I felt small. I became a better person for having known her and being loved by her.
