Biography

I rescued Boomer around 2014, and he had already been through 5 homes. I was a little hesitant, because I wasn't sure why 5 households had given him back to the rescue, but i went with it because he was so loving. He is a mix of Pitbull and Lab, so I knew he'd be a handful, and he was! I finally figured out why he was given back so many times. He was an escape artist, and a runner!!! He managed to be caught by animal control every time, so that means paying fines and going to court, which I did numerous times. I went before the judge 3-4 times and had already spent over $800. I had actually thought about giving him back, but I just couldn't because that's not in my nature. I told myself that he had already been thrown around so much, and I was not going to do that to him!! Plus, I loved him so much! I sent him to a bootcamp, for dogs, to have the trainer help me figure out what to do when I walked him. He was a big dog, and VERY muscular, and strong, so he'd pull me everywhere, and I had injured myself a few times already, walking him. By the time I got him back, you could walk him with a string. So exciting, until it came time for ME to try, then, NOPE!!! It was my fault because he knew I was a softy and i wouldn't reprimand him, so he went with it. The trainer even showed me what to do, but it wouldn't work unless it was her, so I just continued to let him do what he wanted. Not good, I know. Anyway, fast forward to now..... He became the biggest, most loving, goofy, dog EVER!!!! Our bond and love for each other is so heartwarming, and it's felt deep by both of us... I think! 😆😆 Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer about 2 years ago, and that was, and is, soooo heartbreaking!! I'm devastated! He had a tumor on his right leg, and I had them remove it about 2 months after his diagnosis. It stayed away for quite some time, which made me very happy. I actually thought they may have managed to remove all of the cancer, but it came back. Devastating again! They also told me that they didn't want to remove it again, due to his age and how hard it would be for him to recover this time, so I decided to just let him live his life and go when he needed to, or I made that decision. Well, he is still going strong, but his tumor is very big, and I'm afraid "THAT TIME" may be coming sooner than I wanted it to. He hasn't reached that point yet, but I don't want him to suffer AT ALL, so I have to do what's best for him when the time comes. I apologize for how long this was, I didn't mean for it to be, but I wanted to show him off to everyone, and let everyone know how much happiness, and love, he has brought to my life!! People need to understand how much animals mean to us, and how they ARE our children. I know most animal lovers understand that, but we need the others to realize that! We need the laws changed, we need people held more accountable for animal abuse, as if they were human, because to us they are just as important. They need to pay the same price that others who commit evil pay!!!!! They're not "JUST ANIMALS," they're our life!! Thank you for taking the time to read about my baby, and again, sorry for the length!
