Barkley
Biography
Barkley was 4 weeks old lying panting on the side walk beside a homeless guy who was strung out on drugs. I was at home talking care of my 12 yo Border Collie Harlo, she had a seizure the night before and it had caused brain damage. She couldn't walk or stand but she wanted to be near me so I stayed with her every minute. My BF came in and said hey this guy outside was at the store and he has a puppy with him that looks like it might need some food and water. He wants to sell it. I really didn't want another dog, my best dog in the entire world was dying and I didn't want to love any more. We had a little 12 yo Chihuahua Archie that we had gotten for her when he best friend Buddy a pug has passed away the year before. But I had to make sure the puppy was ok so I went out and there he was, panting tongue out running around in the grass trying to catch a butterfly. So he said "come on I need to get the money if you want him I gotta go." So I have him the $50 some in quarters and change because he wouldn't take $47. SMH. The next few days were crazy, My Harlo has to be put to rest, I held her in my arms nose to nose until she was safe over the Rainbow Bridge. Now after coming back home I find Barkley sick, throwing up and barely moving. So off to the vet to find out this little boy has a new strain of Parvo. A few months later and Shorty comes to stay, a pekingnese that Grandma couldn't chase anymore and he was old and spry, but Shorty also crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. So my big 3 yo boy now has my heart, over $1800 later he is priceless. Oh and yes we had to get him a friend to hang with, Einstein, a boxer Pit mix found on the streets and adopted by Archie the Chihuahua so Barkley's big head would quit rolling him when he wanted to play.
