Bentley Hiccup
Biography
Bentley was a rescue who was found on the streets of NE Oklahoma running around near and on a college campus by a few college girls. He apparently was very young and despite their effort to find his owner, no one came forward. He was then turned into The Humane Society where he was cleaned up & got his shots & neutered. Another college student and her husband adopted him to be with their little dog, but after keeping him in their apartment while gone during the days as a puppy….he proved eventually to be too much for them & they were looking to rehome him. By the grace of God, I was online that night & been considering getting another little dog since I was living alone & missed having a fur baby. I told her everything about me: I’m home all day, everyday, live by the lake with a fenced in backyard, planned on (& did) get a doggie door, had him chipped, have had dogs my entire life, and could work with him on his separation anxiety. He has saved me as much as I have saved him from having a depressing life. We’ve been with each other for a yr fall 2025. He has a lot of anal gland issues that we are working w/the vet along with/his anxiety. We did get past his issues of being afraid of men, but I am seeing more signs of fear that leads me to believe he may have been around domestic violence. The reason his middle name is Hiccup, well …..he gets hiccups daily! I’ve never seen a dog get the hiccups sooo much! It’s hard to watch his little body go through that, but fortunately, it doesn’t last very long. He sleeps with me & prefers to always sleep under a blanket, which also is a first for me, but the vet wasn’t concerned. He is very spoiled! The love and attention he gets, never gets yelled at & has many new toys which he does have his favorites. He loves the freedom to go outside as he wishes and greet the neighbors dogs along the fence-lines. We do keep him on heart, flea & tick meds so he doesn’t have any issues living his lake-life.
