Today, I want to share Davey’s story. ❤️ Davey came to us as a foster dog. Like so many shelter dogs, he waited… and waited. For almost seven months, not a single adoption application came for him. He struggled with separation anxiety, but underneath it all was a loving, goofy dog who just wanted a family to call his own. Somewhere along the way, he stopped being “the foster” and simply became part of our family. We already had four dogs and a senior foster, but our home just didn’t feel complete without him. So we made it official—Davey became our fifth dog. Now he’s the one welcoming every new foster puppy that comes through our door. He’s patient, gentle, and somehow seems to know exactly how to help them feel safe and confident. Watching him teach them how to be dogs has been one of the greatest surprises. The sweetest—and saddest—part? When a foster puppy leaves for its forever home, Davey looks for them. He seems to miss each one, reminding us just how big his heart really is. Davey was the dog nobody asked about. Today, he’s the dog who helps prepare so many others for their forever families. Sometimes the dog you’re trying to save ends up changing your life instead. ❤️🐾
