Hope

Hope was abandoned at a small church in rural Marshall County — broken down, neglected, and barely hanging on. Her nails were so overgrown she could hardly walk, both eyes were filled with infection, and she carried a grapefruit-sized tumor on her leg. She was hungry, hurting, and had every reason to give up. But Hope never knew she had been discarded. For the last 10 months of her life, she knew full bellies, soft beds, gentle hands, and a love beyond measure. She spent her days spoiled, safe, fat, happy, and treasured exactly as she deserved to be. Cancer may have taken her body, but it never took her spirit. Hope reminded us that even the dogs the world throws away are worthy of unconditional love. One man’s trash truly became another man’s treasure.
