APOLLO
Biography
I would like to share my story regarding Legacy of Love 805 Dog Rescue. This organization rescued my dog, Apollo, and four others from a kill shelter just two hours before they were scheduled to be euthanized. I am a 100% disabled Veteran. After losing my previous service dog to cancer, I was told I might have to wait up to two years for a new one. When I saw Apollo online, I felt a deep connection and knew he was meant to be my next service dog. Despite having interest from several other people, Legacy of Love chose to pair Apollo with me after hearing my story. They generously waived the adoption fees, provided a FI collar with a membership, and drove him over 800 miles from Ventura, California, to my home in Washington state at no cost. While Siberian Huskies are not typical service dogs, I was determined to train him. Apollo has exceeded all my expectations. He was already well-trained when he arrived at two years old, and he has learned new tasks incredibly quickly. In the 11 months I have had him, we have only been apart for half a day due to my surgery, and he was instrumental in my recovery. As my PTSD and mobility service dog, Apollo has given me my freedom back and helps me feel safe every day. We are both survivors, and I feel truly blessed that we were brought together. #AdoptDontShop
