Mellow

I got Mellow in Jan. 20, 2020 just before covid hit big. It was a double rescue. The owner who had Mellow since he was a puppy was on her 3rd round of cancer and thought she wouldn't make it this time. She wanted to find a good home for her goofy boy. He had medical issues and also had high anxiety. He has epilepsy, thyroid issues, plus his femurs were not in his hip joints at all. His left knee was in very bad shape. I of course fell in love with him from the picture you see of him. What a goofball. I knew I would not be able to get his knee taken care until I had him for a bit due to his high anxiety. I mean he had to get used to me before I would let him be with out me for 24 hours. He got it done 8 months later. It has helped and I am always amazed at how well he does do with all of the issues he has. He is on pain meds everyday and just a month ago he was prescribed another one. He has been an expensive dog, probably more than all of the other dogs (7) put together. Of course it doesn't matter I and I am sure most of us who have fur babies do what we need to do. Mellow is now 12 years an 8 months. He is a large dog 77 lbs. I said if I was able to have until 12 years old I would be happy. Well lucky me he has passed that. Yes he is having more issues with his hips and I can see age making him slow down but he is still the sweetest dog and he makes me smile everyday. My only wish is that when time does come for him to cross the rainbow bridge that he feels the love and comfort I give him. Fingers cross I am now hoping for 13.
